My students need 4 Frog Dissecting Kits, 8 Dissecting Sets, 2 Crayfish Dissecting Kits, 3 Dissecting Pans, and preserved frog specimens, crayfish and brine shrimp specimen.

The majority of students at my school live in a high-need community. My charter school is helping to change the perception of education in this community. My 7th grade life science students are at a critical stage of their academic development. "School" is on the low end of the priority scale for most 12 year-olds, for sure. This project will help further that aim.

Science is a great subject for hooking the interest of 7th graders and making their learning an engaging and challenging experience. Getting the supplies to actually carry out this project will enable students at my school to engage in learning that is seen as "typical" in the suburbs.

This project hinges on getting dissection specimens and equipment to safely and thoroughly conduct a 2-3 week comparative anatomy project. 7th grade students are inherently curious but don't necessarily want that fact to be known by their classmates (or teachers). This project will allow them to set down to the business of learning how to work and learn together safely, depend on each other, and figure out how their bodies parts work together to function well.

Your donation will make it possible for 108 students to feel special, trustworthy and intelligent. You will pave the way for curiosity, discovery and cooperation to blend in a way that will get students dreaming about what they could be instead of what their limitations are. Thank you!
