Skeletons in Our...Classroom!

My students need a life-size human skeleton model to aid in learning human anatomy.

My Students

Who says skeletons are only for Halloween? Not in science lab! What better way to learn "the thigh bone's connected to the hip bone..." then to actually see it and touch it!

My students are first through fourth grade in a rural public Texas school.

Our population presently stands around 767 with 52% economically disadvantaged. I see my students once a week. They LOVE to come to science lab! They get to do hands-on activities and experiments with me and look forward to my class.

My Project

The life-size human skeleton model on casters is all I need to move learning the skeletal system from abstract paper and pencil lessons to concrete hands-on activities. In addition to learning the human skeleton, we can compare animal and human characteristics and adaptations. The learning opportunities are endless!

Your help will make it possible for my students to transfer the learning of skeletal systems from abstract to concrete.

The rolling skeleton (that we can affectionately name) will help students internalize that there are actual bones in their own bodies that look like the model's. This may also alleviate some fears that some students have of skeletons when presented in a professional and educational manner. Along with human anatomy, we can also compare animal skeletal anatomy and adaptations!
