At our school we're tired of being unhealthy eaters! We are a urban science magnet school in need of tools to use in our garden. I am the science lab teacher for approximately 875 students K-5 and EC students. This year I tried a fall garden with my students and we discovered the fun and healthy rewards of fresh veggies. We are a brand new school made up of students from two older schools as well as students attending for the magnet program. Working together in the garden helped bring the two schools together for a common project.

With gardening tools, we could grow gardens to enhance our understanding of plants, soils, and healthy eating habits. Our student body has many "city" kids who have never had the opportunity to garden. We have lots of land and the desire to make this happen, we just need the tools.

In order to have gardens large enough to share with our entire school, we need tools. With rakes, hoes, and other garden tools, we could be much more efficient at weeding and tending our gardens. Spoons and our hands work well on a small scale but for as larger scale we need tools.

Your help will ensure my students get the opportunity to learn about nutrition as well as learn a skill for the future.
