My students need a set of 12 ActiVotes and an ACTIVhub so each student can actively participate in lessons.

I teach a class of energetic 2nd graders in a high-poverty rural community. Learning is sometimes a struggle for them, but they are hard workers who deserve a rigorous learning environment.

Many of my students come from disadvantaged backgrounds. I’ve found engaging them and helping them to understand the importance of education can be quite a challenge. Some students in my classroom this year have told me they will never be able to go to college because they are too poor. I don’t want them to give up on themselves at this young age, and I feel it is my job to encourage them and provide them a rigorous education. ActiVotes are an amazing resource my students need to stay focused, engaged and active in the learning process. Every student would participate at the same time, thus having high interest and high accountability.

ActiVotes help students engage in their own learning. During lessons each student would hold their own ActiVote and respond to questions asked. The answers of each student would be compiled and instantly viewed on the ActivBoard in a graph or chart. I would be able to quickly see how many students understand and if re-teaching is necessary. Students who typically are afraid to volunteer would feel comfortable in participating, as well as hold all students accountable for having an answer. Over time, ActiVotes would help students build confidence in their knowledge and their ability to participate in class. The ActiVotes would also help me as a teacher assess my students on the spot and over time. I would be able to download results for each student into spreadsheets and lesson plans in order to modify instruction and intervention.

You will make it possible for each one of my students to actively engage and participate in every lesson. This engagement will bring more focus, interest and ultimately higher scores and more learning.
