Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

PLEASE No More BEARS!! WE use counting bears to sort, count, make patterns,add, subtract,and measure. I have 23 wonderful kindergarten children in an inner-city school in Pennsylvania. 90% of the students in my class come from homes where english is a second language. The school I teach at is a Title I school where all the students receive free breakfast and lunch daily.

The students in my classroom are excited to learn new concepts and participate in hands on activities that teach them daily mathematical skills. Unfortunately our supplies are limited and we find ourselves using counting bears to create many of our daily math exercises.

I need a variety of materials that will encourage my students to learn math skills through a variety of avenues. The assortment of activities listed will give them a variety of choices to learn everyday math concepts.

By helping to fund this project you will be encouraging future mathematicians. You will make it possible for the students in my class to develop strong foundational skills through a variety of mathematical experiences.
