Reading is Fundamental But Without Books It's No Fun- Part 2

Reading is fundamental but it is not always fun, at least when you either have to read books copied off of a website or the same books over and over again, like my students do. I teach 19 inner city second graders who are bright, energetic, and ready to learn. They know how important it is for them to learn to read, unfortunately their excitement has slowly worn off due to the very limited numbers of books we have in our classroom library. That is why I am asking for your help. This is one part of a three part proposal that will provide an addition 15 books (per reading level), both fiction and nonfiction, to my classroom library. These books are leveled to match the variety of reading levels and abilities of my students. The beauty part of a leveled library is that students who are reading on a 1st grade level will have books that are just right for them, while a student reading on a 3rd grade level will have books just right for him or her. Another nice thing about the books in this proposal is that they are new, so my students can learn about being responsible and careful book owners. The books in each proposal will be added to the books that we already have and help to add a bit more variety and depth to our collection. My students know how important reading is to their future and they want very badly to learn to read. Unfortunately, the selection and number of books in our classroom library is very limited. Your help to purchase these books will help expand their reading choice and help to energize my students' desire to read. Thank you for your time and consideration.
