We are a very large school, serving a very low-income area. The staff here can't be beat, but we have many obstacles that are in our way such as low parental literacy, and even lower parental involvement.

My students are very eager to learn, but like in most schools, supplies are limited. We have rations on just about everything, including paper and toner to make copies for the children.

An ELMO document camera will allow the students and I to complete tasks together, while limiting the amounts of copies made by the teacher. Having a document camera will also allow the teacher to make immediate feedback to the students based on their work. This could be especially meaningful in writing, an area that my students struggle with. Students' work samples could be immediately shown on the board, allowing collaborative, powerful, and thoughtful commentary.

By donating to this project, you will be giving my students the power to think critically and have immediate feedback on their progress in class. You will be challenging students to analyze and critique, but also you are giving the power to change their work for the better! Through the thoughtful and meaningful conversations and commentary generated by our ELMO, you helping the teacher teach the most important standard there is: to think!
