Panasonic Camcorder to Capture Teachable Moments

My classroom is located in an inner city school. They are first grade student from single or broken homes. Our school is currently facing sever budget cuts and a decrease in teaching supplies is expected.

My student often ask about things that are in their community, city or state. They do not get to travel to see these things and can not imagine them. A digital camcorder will allow me to capture these images and sights to share in the classroom. The camcorder will also allow the students to record themselves and their classmates. This can be used to share "lightbulb" moments of learning. "Lightbulb" moments are when you can actually see a student understand a new concept or complete something that they weren't able to do before.

The Panasonic camcorder is lightweight and easy to use. It will allow for multiple uses. The sd/sdhc memory cards will allow the students to record at different times. This resource will motivate the students to share what they are learning.

You have the ability to bring a new source of media into the lives of inner city first graders. They can read, act or even sing for the camera. They can document what they see in their community and neighborhood. I can bring in sights and sounds from across the state into the classroom. The possibilities are endless. Please help.
