Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach Visual Arts to students from Kindergarten to 5th grade in an economically disadvantaged community. To prepare my students for a high tech future I incorporate technology with my curriculum.

To teach my students photography I use my digital camera and Photoshop Elements. My students are so excited about learning photography but with just 1 camera they have limited time to experiment. In one of my lessons I incorporate mathematics and mosaics as an extension of their digital art.

If my students had an additional digital camera and an SD memory card to use they could have more time to experiment and learn about photography. My students would gain exposure to graphic design, photography, and be able to create amazing art that they could enter in local art shows.

With your help my students will be able to learn and grow as artists. Studies prove that those students that participate in the arts do better in all academic areas. When my students participate in exhibitions it builds their self-esteem and improves their academic careers as well.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
