My high school is located in New York City. It is a high poverty, high needs school, and an overwhelming majority of our students receive free lunch.

When our school opened four years ago we inherited the textbooks of a high school that phased out. Our current U.S. History textbooks are old and outdated. The most recent President the textbook addresses is Bill Clinton. The school was finally prepared to purchase new American history textbooks but a new round of budget cuts have shelved that promise.

In High School, Junior year is very important. It is when students first and foremost must prepare for the Regents which is required to graduate and also this is when students begin to realize their responsibilities as citizens in this great nation of ours. With outdated textbooks that are falling apart, my students will be unable to read about important events in American history and they will be unable to prepare for college.

With your help and your help alone, my students will be prepared for college because they will learn how to use the textbook as a means of research. They will also be able to use the textbook to learn about our nation's rich history. Please help my students get the textbooks they deserve and need so they can go to college and pass the U.S. History Regents! Please help undo the harm of budget cuts.
