My students need 8 USB headphones with microphones in order to utilize an interactive listening, speaking, and reading computer program that promotes learning of the English language.

I teach at an elementary school with a population of English Language Learners. Students from Puerto Rico, Russia, China are trying to catch up with their counterparts in all subject areas as well as socially.

The biggest challenge these English Language Learners face is that they do not know and understand many aspects of the American culture and English language. They feel silly asking what "autumn" is or for help in pronouncing months of the year. Some of them have become more introverted due to their lack of understanding. My school has been given the gift of a fantastic computer tutorial program that catches these children up at their own pace.

Unfortunately, the donor of this program did not include the necessary equipment for these English Language Learners to get started. The children are required to use headphones equipped with microphones in order to activate the speaking aspect of the program. Without the headphones and microphones, this program cannot be used to its fullest potential.

The English Language Learners at my school are doing their very best to keep up and be a part of the American culture. As their teacher, I'm trying to see that they are familiar and comfortable with the English language before they go on to middle school. Please help my English learners learn English in a fun and engaging way by donating to my project. They would really, really appreciate it!
