My Students

Do you remember the first time you stared out at the vastness of an ocean? My students live in Baltimore, MD, less than 50 miles from the ocean, but most have never witnessed it with their own eyes.

My students are currently preparing to take important assessments that they must pass in order to graduate from high school.

They are working hard to prepare for these exams, but these months are grueling. I would love to be able to invest them further in what they are doing by providing this trip as an incentive for students who continue to do well. I know that this trip will motivate students to increase their attendance and work harder to reach their goal of passing the assessments. Simultaneously, by being in school and working to attend this trip, students will be learning valuable test-taking skills that they will certainly carry with them when they go to college. As an educator in a high-needs school with a high drop-out rate, it is my goal to keep students in school and prepare them for college. An important step in this process is to invest them in school. I strongly believe that this trip will motivate my students to work hard and better prepare them for the college.

My Project

My students will spend the day in Ocean City, MD. They will be able to walk along the boardwalk and dip their toes in the sand. For most students, this will be their first trip to the Eastern Shore of MD. Many students apply to college on the Eastern Shore and this experience will inform their decision on whether they are interested in going to college there. My students will work hard for the remainder of the year so that they can secure a space on this trip. At the same time, they will be preparing for their assessments and hopefully pass them all the first time around so that they can graduate from high school.

My students have worked so hard this year and will continue to as we get closer to the end of the year.

They deserve to be recognized in some way for their efforts. This trip will to Ocean City will be a great incentive for my students to continue to do well academically and stay in school.
