I teach computers to grade two to five students to a variety of levels, English-as-a-Second Language learners, as well as a special education population. My current focus for my fifth graders is to help them with better note taking skills. I hope to establish a community of well-educated and resourceful students, especially in digital technology.

Research is a difficult process for many of my students, especially the fifth graders who are not quite ready for the demands of note-taking in middle school. I would like to prepare my students my giving them better resources and aid them in taking better notes using a digital audio device.

Using the LiveScribe electronic voice recorder pen, my students will be able to record their notes and scan them into the computer. This will also allow them to organize their notes in categories for future reference and even to share with other students. A special notebook is needed for the pen as well and this is part of my request. Students will record their notes on the notebook while they listen to the lesson. They can then download their notes into the computer. They will be able to listen to the entire lesson once the audio has been downloaded, as well as read their notes they downloaded from the pen into the computer.

Your help will ensure that my students will be better equipped for the demands of middle school. Note taking is an extremely important skill and in our digital world. The LiveScribe is the next step to developing better note-taking skills.
