I teach 4th grade in a very low income school in a military town. About half of my students have a parent that is in the Army. My class works hard to be successful.

My students are great at word calling, but when it comes to comprehension they have a hard time. Most of this difficulty comes from their lack of vocabulary. I have noticed that words that I would think they know, they have never heard.

All kids love games! I know that if I turned learning vocabulary into a game, the kids would be more excited to practice. I have found some games that focus on the vocabulary for different content areas, but with a focus on general vocabulary. These games can be played individually or as a group.

Please help my class expand their vocabulary! Not only would this help them with reading, but it will improve their future.
