This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hello! I teach a wonderful group of very inquisitive second graders. Most of my students are bilingual. They come from low income homes with very caring parents.

When teaching bilingual students it is important to build vocabulary. When we read a story and come across a word that students are not familiar with we need to look it up quickly.

With an HP Netbook we can look unfamiliar words up online when we come across them. Not only will we get a description but we will also get a picture. One particular story we read talks about plants native to Hawaii. It would be wonderful to show my students pictures with nice vibrant colors of these native Hawaiian plants.

You can help me open the windows in our classroom to the world outside. Help me give my students knowledge about the world around them. As they say, "Knowledge is Power". By empowering my students you will affect their learning for years to come.
