Welcome and thank you in advance for reading my proposal. I am the library teacher for a Chicago public school. We are located in the East Rogers Park Area and serve a population of 95% minority students. These children receive free/reduced meals and come from a very low socio-economic status.

In particular, I service 850 students in one week. My major obstacle consists of tailoring my instruction to meet the diverse needs of these students. These are a combination of grade-level as well as academic performance. Our current school budget does the best that it can at supporting library resources. However, we are currently facing budget constraint. In essence, without your help, I could simply not afford to bring these items into my library.

I have requested floor puzzle, photo cards and an electronic dictionary. These materials will aid students from all levels and areas such as kindergarten through eighth grades as well as our autistic students. The puzzles will allow this last group to sequence as well as to see a correlation between words and pictures. The Photo Cards will also help them in discriminating actual objects and their meaning. And lastly, the electronic dictionary will not only help me, but, also my bilingual/refugee students in using technology in a different way.

I am excited about implementing/using these tools in my classroom. Please consider my proposal for funding, as it will not only facilitate my job, but also enhance my students' learning. I thank you in advance.
