Making A Tidal Wave Of Difference!

My special needs students need equipment, such as weights and rings, to use in the pool for their swimming class as part of their physical education curriculum.

I teach swimming and aquatics to severe and profound special needs students from preschool age through high school. We are a public separate school that serves approximately 250 students.

I have many different levels to teach and in order to differentiate my teaching, I need lots of different equipment. Many of my students require 1:1 assistance in the pool to stay safe, so many times, the entire class cannot swim at once. I also need to be creative in coming up with related activities for the other students to be engaged in on the pool deck that relates to the water.

I have requested a variety of equipment to serve both those students in the pool and those out of the pool. For those students who are not swimming that day, they can be engaged while working with a water table. I have requested some ankle weights of different sizes to accommodates the wide age range of student body that will allow us to work on walking and standing for our students in wheelchairs.

Your help will ensure that all of my students get to enjoy the water and be active on their swimming days. This new equipment will allow them new experiences that they have not had the opportunity to enjoy before. The water is such a therapeutic learning environment and with the proper tools, it can open up a whole new world for these children!
