Our school district is a rural area in the Taconic Valley located in the foothills of the Berkshires. Our school district population is approximately 6,800.

Rural areas are facing a real crisis because it is difficult to obtain funding for educational programs due to a lack of resources. A state’s per pupil spending affects its available federal funds, creating an uneven playing field for small schools who apply for these funds. For poorer rural districts, this policy severs their access to federal funding, particularly for supplemental programs.

In order to meet the educational needs of our students, we are requesting resources in the form of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) for our 7th grade technology program. These devices will provide our students with exposure to and knowledge of GPS technology.

Donor's Choose provides one of the best ways to address the crisis of low funding resulting in the lack of school supplies; because rural areas are in particular need of additional educational programs due to their higher concentration of poverty and lower achievement rates. Your support will enable our school to be competitive in areas of technology that are introduced in larger school districts.
