Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am currently the director of bands at a K-8 school in Conecticut. This is my fourth consecutive school year teaching, and the band program is comprised of students from the 4th grade through 8th grade. The program has truly grown when compared to when I first arrived at the school. The school has as strong foundation in the community, students are encouraged to be involved and participate in community service, and mentoring programs. We are fortunate enough to have strong parental support and involvement.

Like many of our neighboring schools, we are also effected by a lack of financial assistance to help enrich and supplement our performing arts programs. Despite this detriment, the band and instrumental program has maintained an optimistic outlook on its growth and expansion. Our students and myself are never too prideful to ask for help and never too arrogant to offer help.

This is where your help comes in; All of the band members are looking forward for the city's next set of parades to march in. Our goal is to march in those parades and make an impact on the judges and crowd. In order to achieve this goal we must first look uniformed and impressionable. By obtaining these Royal Blue Marching Berets, we can complete our appearance and begin to look like a serious and determined marching band.

By establishing a wonderful first impression we gain recognition and acknowledgment for our school's wonderful and talented music program and henceforth more opportunities may open up for us within the city to allow our students to shine, after all you never know who will be watching in the crowd
