Sleepy Dreams For Nappy Preschoolers

My students need 16 sheets and 16 blankets for napping because the current sheets and blankets has been reused for the last five years.

I am currently working in a large urban school district with children who live below the poverty level. I facilitate sixteen four year old students who come to school for a full day of class. They sleep on cots every day during rest period.

My students come from varied backgrounds and countries. Their parents do not have the means to provide the materials they need to make the transition between home and school easily. We desperately need new sheets and blankets because we have been using the ones we have for five years. During those five years, eighty different children have been using the present blankets and sheets.

With all the various diseases our world presently has, having new sheets and blankets will enable us to better control the spread of germs. It will enable us to tuck our little nappers in blankets and sheets that will provide them a more comfortable rest. Our students learn how to make up a bed and take it apart. Learning to take care of yourself and your belongings makes our students self efficient.

Your help in this project will enable my students a new means to develop good sleeping habits. Each child makes their own bed and folds and puts their sheets and blankets away when they wake up. Having new sheets and blankets will provide us with a more healthy environment.
