Books For Cats!!

My students need supplemental reading books to stimulate their interest in and motivate them to learn science.

My high school science students are in a high-need community. Buying books to read is out of reach for many of them. Both my Biology and Chemistry courses are college prep courses and are required for graduation. My AP Biology students need to read books outside of class to help prepare them for college. Since our school mascot is the "cats" -- my cats need to get their paws on some science books!

Many of my students do not see the value of reading outside of school and are not motivated to read anything beyond their textbooks. Being able to read and comprehend the reading is a basic need to those who are going onto college. While I consider books like these to be necessities, our current funding levels make them supplemental.

I need to provide them with stimulating and motivating books to both interest them in science and motivate them to read. These books about successful science role models and careers in science will help to provide reasons to read and perhaps open their eyes to possible careers in science.

Your generous donation will help provide necessary supplemental reading books to my students to help stimulate them and broaden their minds to new possibilities. Thank you in advance!
