I teach American History, World History, World Geography and Study Skills to students in Grades 8,10,11,and 12. Our district is impoverished and our free and reduced lunch numbers are annually over 60%. We also have a high percentage of special needs students. Broken home sand broken hearts are common here. We are trying to level the playing field by inspiring these kids with the hope of a better way of life through educational experiences that are above what many districts in our area do. Technology is a big part of that.

In the past 18 months I have undertaken an extensive effort to get my classroom up to speed with 21st century learning styles. I have converted three of my core classes into an online format which allows greater flexibility in scheduling as well as getting students "hands on" technology assisted learning. I've been crowding the computer labs for years and now there is a new hope! We recently were awarded a technology grant and the administration has decided to reward my pursuit by purchasing laptops for my classroom! We have some tables that will work but we really need new chairs to make my 21st century classroom come to life.

The chairs you are buying will not only be functional but because they are of quality and comfort they will be conducive to better posture and attention by students. They will instill a sense of pride in my students because they are not used to having nice and new. We can also use these chairs for other events such as graduation and National Honor Society Inductions.

Not many people think if a chair as an important instrument in modern technology but that's exactly what they will be for my students. With your gracious donation we can bring our district and our students to new heights. We will be one step closer to keeping up with the shift that is so dramatically changing our educational system and our world. Thank you so much for considering this worthwhile endeavor!
