Hello! I am a sixth grade language arts and social studies teacher from a rural community in WI. This is my third year teaching in this district and I am focusing on incorporating technology into my curriculum because I feel that it is my job to prepare my students with 21st century skills.

The lack of computer lab time is frustrating, not only for me, but for my students. We have less than two hours per week to work on projects and activities. I require my students to word process their writing projects because I feel that it is skill they will use for the rest of their lives. This can be a very slow process for some of my students and that puts a halt to my class. I have to wait until the class is finished typing before moving on.

The solution to our problem is flash drives. Most of my students either have computers at home or can use a friend's computer to finish their work. If all of my class would have flash drives(there are some that cannot afford a flash drive), they could do word processing at home. This would free up our lab time and allow us to work more with our wikis and podcasts. We would be more productive while learning how to use 21st century skills at school.

I want my students to gain as many technological skills as possible. However, with limited computer lab time, that is not possible. Your generosity will make it possible to give all my students the skills that they will need and use forever.
