There is nothing more important for musicians than the ability to keep a beat, specifically drummers. Hello, I am a public high school band teacher in Colorado and have over 150 students in my band program. We have two concert bands, a jazz band, and a class specifically for percussionists (drummers) called Percussion Techniques. This is the class that would benefit the most from this project.

One of the biggest challenges for musicians and specifically, percussionists is keeping a steady beat. Without the use of a metronome, these students struggle to maintain good tempo while performing difficult rhythms. While we have several metronomes, they are over 10 years old and are starting to fail.

The Boss company makes an incredible metronome, the DB-90 Dr. Beat, which provides many rhythm tools for students to utilize in practicing rhythms and steady tempos. The Dr. Beat even has a built in Rhythm coach feature that will actually train students to keep a steady beat. In addition, the metronome can be plugged into loud speakers to be heard above the sound of drums and other instruments. In my conversations with other band directors, I've discovered that the Dr. Beat is also fairly rugged and can stand up to daily use. I am asking for four of these metronomes to be shared among the 20 students in my percussion class and among all of the students in my other music classes.

With your help, my students will have a valuable tool in their practice and learning of rhythm and tempo. In this time of limited resources we are simply unable to prioritize these metronomes as a budgetary need. I appreciate your consideration.
