Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach Physics in a charter high school with a student population that is high minority and a high level of economically disadvantaged students but is committed to providing EVERY student the chance to go to college.

In order to better prepare our students to compete in the college environment, we try to take them to city events, like science fairs, that expose them to student work from other schools. Often, these schools have greater resources to support thier kids, specifically with the ability to prepare quality reports and graphics for science fair boards and posters.

Since preparing quality materials is hard for our kids, having an HP color printer to produce high quality materials for competitions between other schools would be extremely helpful.

Our kids work very hard with what they have, which in some cases is considerably less than their competitors. This would give them the ability to produce quality documents like their peers and help level the playing field. Or as one of my other students so eloquently put it, "We won't look so ghetto mister!" That pretty much says it all.
