My students need preserved samples of plant and animal life specific to desert, forest, and marine biomes.

I teach science and math to 150 6th grade students in a high needs public middle school.

My students have very few supplies and limited natural world experiences. I want to give them as many encounters as I can, within the classroom, to help them better understand and appreciate the expansive world we live in.

We will be reading about biomes and the characteristics of plant and animal life exclusive to particular habitats - desert, forest, and marine. I am requesting preserved samples of plant and animal life specific to these biomes, along with guides to identify their individual characteristics. Students will be able to see actual plants and animals. They will use these for detailed drawings, and compare/contrast organizers. These resources will provide first hand experiences with some of the wide ranging ecosystems of our planet.

Your help will ensure that my students will better understand our blue planet and take ownership of protecting and preserving our environment.
