My students study 9th grade Integrated Science and at times are unresponsive during class because they are afraid of being laughed at for giving the wrong answer. The addition of technology in a school system not only enhances student learning but moves us toward a paperless environment. Science is my passion. Daily I try to inspire my students to become better citizens through education! My course covers scientific method, basic chemistry, physics, earth, space, and environment.

Students, like all adults want to know where they went wrong. This review time allows them to learn from their mistakes and reprocess the information. Actively engaging students in classroom conversation helps them to understand the scientific concepts that are being covered. In a perfect world the teacher would have a way for all students to answer a question anonymously and to check learning and make sure ALL are paying attention. This is feedback at its best! Catch the problem before it becomes a problem. I worked in a larger district before moving and had the opportunity to use a clicker system. I now realize the importance of allowing students to see what he or she needs to focus on for further improvement. A classroom set of clickers will assist in keeping all the students engaged at once! This is a solution for my students!

The resource that will excite my students is the audience response clicker system. It allows each student to choose an answer and remain anonymous. After the prescribed time the students can see how well they are doing and ask questions while it is fresh in their mind or allow the instructor to discuss the misconception. I also like that the clickers help students gain confidence without any threat to self-esteem.

Your gift will ensure that students have a more personal connection with the subject matter. Through electronics I will be able to remove paper tests from my classroom. Students will be actively learning and engaged during review sessions because the feedback is immediate. Please make it possible for my students to be as triumphant in their studies as they wish to be!
