Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a tutor in an Arizona Title I school with many low income families. Our school is K-8 and we have over 500 students enrolled. We are currently a Performing Plus School with teachers and students who are striving to reach Excelling in the Arizona school system.

We are very low on supplies this school year because of lower enrollments and lower tax revenue. We were an up and coming community a few years ago. Many young families were moving in and buying our fairly inexpensive brand new homes. Then the housing collapse occurred, we lost students and school tax revenues (many of the homes were foreclosed on.) Our district has cut back on our funding because the state has cut back on their funding. Consequently, our teachers are having to pay for a lot of the supplies that our students need out of their own pockets. Previously we were supplied with printer ink to make copies for homework packets, tests, and other curriculum materials, but this year that was one of the cutbacks.

Providing our school with HP printer ink cartridges for the classroom printers will help the teachers make the copies they need for the homework packets, decodable books, tests and resource materials for our students. This would help us to reach the Excelling status that we know we are capable of.

Your help will ensure that our students will have the necessary paperwork that they need to expand their study materials and make the community proud of what will be our Excelling school.
