I am currently teaching 2nd grade and I am also the ESL specialist for our school and work with students learning English. I LOVE teaching! Our school is VERY large and holds many more students than the building was built for. Because of our large numbers, our budget is tight. My students have found a love for writing. They love to write letters, stories, reports, poems, journals, etc. They eat up any writing activity I put in front of them. For my ESL students, writing is a great way to increase vocabulary and language skills. For EVERY student, writing increases reading skills, develops creativity, and promotes critical thinking skills.

My students' love for writing has inspired me to come up with creative writing projects for them to work on. One of these projects is to create a hardbound book from their own writing. We received a grant last year for a machine that binds the students work into hardcover books. This year I am hoping to further this annual project by adding an HP color printer for us to print out students' colorful illustrations.

An HP color printer would allow us to print out color pictures of the students to use in their writing. It would also allow us to print digitally drawn illustrations in color. Additionally, we would be able to make color copies of hand drawn illustrations. Our school budget, because of our size and because of the economy, has gone from little to absolutely nothing! This is why we are requesting your help today.

Your donation would help young 2nd grade and ESL authors become even more excited about writing. An HP printer would allow the students to experience the complete writing process from brainstorming to publishing. Thank you for taking the time to read about our project. And thank you for investing in education. (These little giants are our future leaders!)
