Please help my students to be flexible in their word knowledge. I teach struggling readers as a reading specialist in a K-5 school.

Many of my students struggle with understanding how words work. Some words appear frequently in reading and writing (high-frequency words or sight words) while other words have common patterns or parts that appear in many words. Many of my students need support in understanding that once they know one pattern or word, they can use the structure of that pattern or word to make many new words.

My students need magnetic letters and magnetic white boards to practice making words, a sight word game, and word family listening center activities. These supplies will help me to reinforce the skills that are being taught in the regular classroom. My students will have hands-on experience in making new words as well as being able to reinforce their knowledge of words that they see when they read and write.

These materials will really make a difference for my students. They will allow my students to grow in their understanding of words and to become better readers and writers.
