I have been teaching for the past year and a half. This year I was hired one month into the school year due to the state budget cuts. My students had already been in school for one month when the schedule was rearranged. I teach Language Arts in a low income area where kids have very limited to no support at home. The more hands on and visual I can make things for the students the more they are able to learn and retain. I have one whiteboard in my room that measures about five feet by five feet. When we are thinking, brainstorming, and writing we quickly run out of room to work! With the use of an easel, I would be able to flip the page over without having to erase my students ideas and we would be able to look back at what we wrote. This is a very useful tool because students need to be able to refer back to notes and ideas during any given lesson, next week, or even next month.

Having an easel and paper to go with this easel would be the perfect tool for my students to practice and master their writing skills. Learning how to write a paragraph is something that the students will use for the rest of their lives. This easel and chart paper will allow for these students to practice their writing and brainstorming skills!
