Looking at Literacy as a life long LIFESAVER! I teach 3rd grade at a school in rural(ish) area in northern Florida.

Literacy is a life skill and is an academic that cannot be practiced enough. Main ideas? Fact & opinions? Predicting? Sequencing? Plot? Oh, these skills can be so boring to teach with the traditional paper and pencil. Worksheets? That's not 21st century learning! These kids need hands-on learning activities that will guide them into stronger literacy skills. With these resources kids will learn, work together, and have fun at the same time.

I need resources that will empower my students in a quest of self-guided learning and literacy. Fiction and non-fiction comprehension learning centers, poetry books and c.d.'s, and Hot Dots reading comprehension quiz cards are the resources that will be used during center time and while students work independently. These hands-on reading practice stations will help students learn and practice the different elements in literacy without having to use the traditional paper and pencil format. Additionally, these resources are eco-friendly as they will reduce the amount of worksheets that must be copied. And lastly, they can be used over and over again for years to come.
