Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach in an urban school that is in a high needs community. We have an 90% poverty rate and our students come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds.

Every day I come into my classroom hoping that I can make learning fun and exciting for my studnets. A lot of times my studnet don't see reading as fun because they struggle with the words. Most of them do not have anyone at home to read with because of a language barrier. Who will help them if they don't know what the word is when they are reading? The answer...no one.

There is a new and exciting new way to read by LeapFrog. The Tag Reading System helps solve the problem of not knowing what the word is while the child is reading. If a child gets stuck on a word then they place the pen on the word and it will tell them what the word is.

Your help will not only expand the reading experience for children ages 4 to 8 by bringing storybooks to life but it will give a child success by being able to read a story independently without constant assistance from the teacher.
