With one donation you can help 120 9th grade students remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating skills in our World History Classroom as they dream about their futures.
Most students at our high poverty urban high school have never been outside of their city and many have never left their neighborhood. While they dream about one day going off to college to make something of themselves, it is hard to dream without the vision or skills to do so. Visuals of people, places and events bring history and their world closer. These help to open their eyes to possible college, job and living destinations beyond their small world. Textbook visuals cannot compare to the multimedia they are exposed to on their televisions and computers at home. Their learning styles are fast paced and most are visual learners. In addition, we have many students who have special needs in our classes that must have instruction differentiated from the typical textbook learning provided by our district. This is where your donation can help.
With the standing of today's economy (especially in our home state of Michigan), there are very few funds for field-trips and classroom technology. A classroom projector can help us take virtual field trips anywhere in the world while encouraging the many different levels of learning in our classroom. I have students of all different abilities but one way they can all feel successful is by analyzing visuals. A classroom projector not only helps to expose them to new learning but also gives an avenue for them to share their learning with others which builds much needed confidence.
Your donation will make it possible for students of all levels to learn, share and dream.
