I have the largest classroom in my school! That is because I teach elementary physical education class (k-5) at a public school in rural Michigan.

Our problem is we have no equipment for archery. Not a thing! That is why we need a lot. This would be an entirely new unit added into the curriculum.

Like I said, equipment is our biggest issue. For us to be able to do this unit we need to have the proper equipment such as bows, arrows, targets, safety netting, etc. There is support for this unit to be added into the curriculum and I know it would be a great opportunity for my students to be able to learn how to shoot a bow and arrow as well as the responsibilities that come with it.

Our school has four major themes and they are: need to be safe, expect respect, show responsibility, and work together. I can't think of a better way to incorporate all of those themes than by doing archery. Our school is located in an area where hunting and outdoor sports are a big part of family traditions. Unfortunately, there are many that will never get the opportunity to experience this. An archery unit in a controlled school environment would allow all students an opportunity and will help introduce them to outdoor sports. Your help will make this unit possible and a guaranteed success!
