Our classroom is an innovative experiment. All of the students enrolled in our course have failed Algebra I at least one time. Our goal is to motivate and inspire these students by combining math and science into an interactive project-based classroom. Some of the projects we are working on this upcoming semester include: building siege weapons, auto-accident reconstruction, and the global energy crisis.

Another goal for our class is to provide our students with 21st century skills that can use later in life. Our classroom is very technology rich (laptops and a smartboard) but we lack a means for the students to keep a visual record of their accomplishments.

We are trying to acquire 3 digital cameras so our students can record and document their projects into a digital portfolio at the end of the year.

Many of the students in our course are students that have been given up on by on multiple occasions. We are not giving up on them. We are trying a new approach. We need these cameras to help prove to our students that they are able to learn and to motivate them to keep going.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
