This is my first year teaching third grade. I love teaching every subject, because I have the ability to inter connect each subject area. I am preparing these students to be part of the "digital age," and thus I need to get on board with some new technology!

This year, my students have shown a particular interest in technology. Since we have no technology teacher, the duty of teaching basic computer skills, internet safety and keyboarding falls on my shoulders. I take students to the lab one time per week to practice these skills, and I am fortunate enough to have 2 classroom computers for student use. Recently, my students have been interested in Skyping their pen pals. I had the idea to get a flip video recorder so that we could also pre-record messages to share with our pen pals/e-pals.

With the use of a flip video recorder, we can record e-post cards to send to our pen pals. Also we can use the video technology to prepare and record skits, commercials, and role plays to share with other students and classrooms.

You will make it possible for my students to enhance their speaking skills as they prepare to record themselves. They will also be able to reflectively look back on presentations to pick out their own strengths and weaknesses. Finally, this camera will give us the ability to send video messages to our pen pals.
