I teach at a year-round charter school in a very high-need community with a lot of English language learners. For ELLs, visuals are extremely important. I currently have an overhead projector that I estimate to be 400 years old. It is extremely expensive to maintain ($75 bulbs, and expensive transparencies). Overhead projectors also have many limitations that document cameras do not have.

With a document camera, I will be able to easily model work for students, students will be able to share their work with classmates, and it will save a lot of money in the long run.

By supporting this project, you will help students every, single day. Other teachers who have document cameras use them several times each day. If you support this project, in five months, you might think to yourself, "I wonder if those kids appreciate that project I funded," but then you'll laugh, realizing, of course they do; I bet they're using that doc camera right now. And you'll be correct. And this scenario will be true for many years.
