Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My kids are the most curious, open, and eager little guys you will ever meet. They are 3-5 years old, a mix of special ed and at-risk in a suburban community. These kids are FULL of potential.

The state has cut our operating budget and, instead of losing kids, the teachers chose to forgo our classroom budgets. Budgets have been so tight these past few years that I haven't been able to buy new things for the room for over four years. There are so many new and exciting writing tools out there, I want my kids to have the best.

The area of my classroom that lacks the most is my writing center. Kids that are not able to hold a writing utensil yet can use the upper and lower case letter builders to form letters, kids ready for more motor skills can practice with the pre-writing motor skills board and refill pack and the write and wipe alphabet cards, and kids ready to go can transitional follow the dot stamps to practice their skills. As a whole class, I can use the write and wipe boards class set to assess where each child is at allow me to provide additional scaffolding of skills.

This donation will make it possible for me to provide my kids with a literacy-rich writing center that will have something for every child, at every level and ability. Letter recognition is one of the best indicators of kindergarten readiness. Help us out!
