I teach 7th grade math in Kentucky. I split my time between teaching the Algebra 1 gifted and talented class and the special education collaborative math classes.

Students feel that they do not have to read or write in math class. Asking them to write in full sentences is like pulling teeth. Being able to read a math related novel in class and have them write about what they read will show students the importance of reading and writing across all subject matters.

The Number Devil: a Mathematical Adventure is a great fiction book that is all about math and different adventures one student embarks on. This book will help open the eyes of the students showing them that math can be fun. I am asking for a classroom set of this book for the students to share during in class reading.

Your donation would change the student's perspective about reading in math class. It will inspire them to read more and learn in a whole new way. Be their inspiration!
