My students need copies of the Twilight Saga Books and journals for reflection and writing.

I have some really wonderful, amazingly creative,and hardworking students and I have gotten them all hooked on Twilight! That means the boys too! What is the GREAT thing about this? KIDS are READING-on purpose! By choice! TURN OFF THE TV, KIDS! As a teacher, I know that reading, reading and more reading is the key to improving comprehension and writing skills. In my inner city classroom where 88% of our students receive free and reduced lunch, my goal is to get my students thinking about college and becoming a person with a skill and a talent that is marketable. I always tell them READING is the key to success in high school. No one hands out a TV the first day of class, instead you are issued big fat textbooks that often sit ignored in a locker. I work in a city school that has kids from all over the area, but the amazing thing is, no matter how much poverty is in their neighborhoods - these kids talk about Coll

Face it, most inner city kids aren't hanging at the library. We try at our school to give them a safe loving place to be 3 and half hours after school. The kids are crazy about Twilight but I simply don't have enough books for everyone that is asking to read them. I want to encourage them to read....one good story makes you want to read another and another and they need that practice to get ready for all of the reading they must do in college.

Getting kids to read is the solution and the Twilight books and journals will inspire my students to read and write and those are basic skills they can never practice enough. Reading Twilight is fun and engaging for the students. They will have reading time after testing and we will have an after school book club-something not found in most African American schools. But they should be found there. They should be.

You can make our books circle grow and create a safe place for kids so instead of being in some of the poorest neighborhoods in the inner city area, they are safe with me, curled up with a good book and talking about what they think and what they like. We will have time to write in our beautiful Twilight Journals thanks to you. Please can you give the gift of reading to some deserving kids? Having books that kids WANT to read instead of have to read will mean everything to them. As the latest movie comes out, I know kids will be even more interested in reading the books and that's what they need to do to prepare for college! READ! Thanks so much.
