We Need The Write Stuff

My students need various writing resources to use in a writing center, including stamp sets, build-a-sentence and paragraph flip book, and a tabletop writing center.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a second grade teacher at a Title I school in rural Oklahoma. I teach 21 energetic, eager to learn seven-year-olds. I have students on every ability level, from special needs to gifted.

One of my focuses this year is developing my students' writing skills. If a student is a good writer it will also "spill" into his reading. In order to do this, I would like to set up a writing center in my classroom. I envision the writing center to be a place where students can use their imagination and creativity to become both authors and illustrators. I will be teaching my students the writing process this year, but they need a place to experiment with their own writing, as well as materials to use. I want to provide an organized writing center with unlimited amounts of paper, craft supplies, and writing prompt activities. We also have "teamed" up with a high school English class. They will be our "Pen pals". The writing center will be a place for the students to create their letters for their pen pals.

The materials that I have requested will complete my writing center and give my students the resources to immerse themselves in the world of writing. These tools will allow my students, struggling and non-struggling writers, to practice their writing skills on an everyday basis. It will allow my students to become "passionate" writers at a very young age.

Your donation could make a difference in 21 young potential writers' lives and the future students in my class. Thank you for making a difference in children today.
