I teach 2 different 5th grade language arts and social studies classes. I want to get the students interested in reading. I would like to combine reading with technology. The students would be able to pick a book from the library that looks interesting. When the student finishes the book, they will do a book report on the iPod. The iPod will then be played to let the students in the class know about the book. This would give the students a chance to present the material to the other class. This will enable both classes to interact with each other without being in the same room. Eventually, I would love to Skype with another school and allow the students to present the book reports to other schools. This would get more students aware of how fun reading can be. By 5th grade, students are not wanting to read for fun. I want to show the students how much fun they can have just by reading a book. I want to inspire students to use their imagination and reading is a fantastic way. With so much technology today, this would be a way to engage the students to read. I need an iPod to record the book reports and I need an iHome to play the book reports. The iPod will work for the students to talk into to give the book report. The iHome would enable the class to listen to the book report. You will make a difference to my students. They can learn to read for fun and not because it is assigned. By reading for fun, the students will learn to use their imagination where so much now is provided through video. This will enable them to go far in life. HIDE My students need one iPod and one iHome.
