Help us visit Art Museums Worldwide... with a Laptop!

My students need a laptop computer to use in the art room; we can hook this laptop up to our school's LCD projector to view large images of art around the world in our art room.

I am the art teacher at my elementary school, a magnet school for the hearing impaired. I teach about 400 kids from a variety of backgrounds each week in grades pre-K through 5. The technology at school is extremely limited, and we do not have a working computer in our art room. Until recently, I have been bringing my own laptop from home to show students images of artwork from around the world, but recently, my computer crashed. So, now we need our own art room laptop. I would use this computer DAILY with my students in all grade levels. I use the internet, museum resources, art websites, online books, and educational art videos, to bring art to life in my art classroom. The National Gallery of Art has an amazing website for kids with interactive activities and games that I would love to share with my young artists. With a laptop in our art room, my students would be exposed to so many different types of art worldwide. I tie in my art lessons with our school and state social studies standards (among many other things!) and would love to use the computer to have my students explore the art and culture of Japan, China, Egypt, Africa, Greece, Rome, India, Australia, and many other exciting places. As an art teacher, I have the privilege of teaching students about art, culture, beauty, and creativity. In my class, students learn to find beauty in everything, and stretch their brains and imaginations in art activities, while constantly thinking creatively and innovatively. I am eager to take full advantage of all of the educational resources available for teaching my students about art and cultural differences, and know that a computer in the art room would help make this possible. I love art and teaching, and hope to bring my students and their artwork into the digital realm in my classroom.
