Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Teaching elementary music is wonderful. Each day I get to share my love of music with more than 100 students across 6 different grade levels. In all, I teach 600 students with very different needs. My school is a Title 1 school this year due to our rising poverty rate. Our students are great kids and deserve the best.

All of my students sit on the floor for music. My hectic schedule has 7 different classes coming to my room each day. Chairs and tables aren't made to fit kindergarten bodies as well as adult-sized fifth graders. 30 desks in my room would also eliminate any room for movement activities.

Our classroom needs flexible seating. The risers I am requesting are very portable and would fit our classroom situation perfectly. 4 colorful risers will be arranged for students to sit or stand on. Each riser is lightweight and has wheels so that they can be easily be moved. This would allow me to use the risers in the gym for performances. Another great feature is that they are plastic and can be cleaned to avoid spreading germs. We recently had a large flu outbreak and this would help us stay healthy.

I realize that this is a substantial request and would be delighted to have your help. So many children will benefit from your gift and it will be used year after year.
