As a High School Drama Teacher, I am very excited to have the opportunity to teach students of varying levels in theater, from beginners who have never been in front of anyone, to students who are at an advanced level and considering the arts as a career option. My students also work with special needs students who come into our class on a daily and weekly basis, and they work hard to ensure everyone feels included.

One piece of very important equipment is missing from my drama classroom, though. A Video Camera. My students would benefit from watching their own rehearsals and performances,and would be able to revisit past performances to see their own growth. We also want to document the progress the students are making in our inclusive classes.

Having a camera in the classroom would help my students see where they need to improve, from stage presence to volume,and will help them have more effective self-critiques. While the can feel what happens in the scene emotionally, without a camera, I have no way to show my students exactly what they looked like to help them grow. This is an important facet for any actor, and especially for beginners.

Your help in providing a video camera for my students will help them build confidence, and help them see themselves in a new perspective as they watch their own growth over a period of several performances.
