"I consider myself as a “D teacher". A “D teacher", you might ask? I feel I am a “D teacher” because I am a Determined, Dedicated, and Driven to do what it takes to help my students succeed! This year I have been putting my efforts towards helping my 5th grade students become proficient readers. To do this, I have selected a wide variety of books that will help students build important reading skills.

Right now, I don’t have the books I need in order to teach literacy in the way that I have come up with. That is why I am working to bring rich literature into my classroom that will help me teach my students crucial literacy skills that they need in order to be successful readers and learners. I plan to use the requested books in my 5th grade classroom, wherever I teach.

Critical comprehension skills, including plot, inferring, summarizing and drawing conclusions are skill students often struggle with. To help with this, I have chosen a variety of books to use to teach these skills. The books I am requesting are highly engaging and will be great for modeled read alouds, where I will teach students the new skills. Then students can read the books during independent reading.

Your help with this project will make it possible for my student to learn important reading skills though the use of enriching reading materials. These resources will encourage and support the development of students who are proficient readers. Thank you for your consideration and desire to help make a difference in students lives!

My students need 29 books, including "Say a Little Prayer", "The Toothpaste Millionaire" and "The Wreck of the Zephyr". The cost of this proposal is $418, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."

Dear Anonymous Donors,

Thank you all again for helping make this project a reality! The books just arrived and they have already been powerful tools for my students as they work on becoming proficient readers. They were so excited to know that the materials were provided for them by caring people who don't even know them. I am so grateful to have these resources for my students. My school has a lot of challenges, and this project will make math a little easier. Thanks again!

With gratitude,
Ms. O.
