"I currently work with Kinder and First grade students who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum disorders. My students have a difficult time with speech which has caused them to shy away from reading tasks. I want to show them that reading is fun.

Students with Autism have been shown to have a difficult time learning basic phonic skills. They have a tough time with blending sounds to form words. I want to take their interest in fun gadgets and help them learn to read.

With the state of the economy, my district is unable to supply my students with the tools that they need in order to succeed. I think by making reading even more hands on, I will be able to grab my student's attention and teach the reading skills that they need. We will start with working on letter sounds and will move into forming sentences. My students will learn the reading skills they need along with language building skills to help them communicate better.

Your help will not only make it possible for my students to learn how to read, but it will also help them become better communicators. My students learn by working with their hands. The Reading Rods will allow my students to learn in a way that works for them, which will lead to greater success. Reading Rods will give my students a voice when they are too uncomfortable to use their voice. Once my students understand that the letters come together to make words and phrases, they will be able to communicate with each other and with staff.

My students need one Reading Mentor with adapter, one set of Sight Word Reading Rod sets, one Word Building Reading Rod sets, one Sentence Building Reading Rod sets, and one set of magnetic letters. The cost of this proposal is $162, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."

Dear Amrita, Lori, Jean and Corinne,
Thank you so much for the support. I am so excited about being able to acquire the materials in order to meet the needs of my students. Reading is a task that is very laborious for my students, by providing them with new and exciting hands on learning materials, I am able to keep them engaged for longer periods of time. We are going to be able to explore letters, words and phrases with our hands, our eyes, and our ears.
I cannot explain how much I appreciate your help.
Thank you.

With gratitude,
Ms. S.
