Art To Die For

My students need a safe and simple die-cut machine, the uppercase alphabet dies that go with it, and a storage case to keep the dies safe.

To do or die...that is the question. I am a special education teacher teaching Art, following a curriculum called the Art Blueprints, to grades Pre-K to 5th. My school is a Title One school in a high-need community and there isn't a budget to buy Art supplies. My focus is on special education and being as creative as I can, while still tying it to core subjects such as history, math, science and language arts. I want to expose my students to different styles, and inspire them to explore their feelings.

I need to find ways to challenge their young minds and I came across a safe and simple die cut machine that would enable them to cut out letters, numbers, teddy bears, flowers etc., all by themselves. They like to feel they can do things, and excel in the praises that they receive. It helps them build up their self esteem and confidence, and when others comment on their work they truly shine.

If we had this safe and simple die cutting machine in our art classes, we would be able to apply it to science projects, language arts reports, math reports and the history of art reports as well. It would be used in all subjects connecting it to the arts and the children would be able to have a hands on approach.

We've discovered how important the arts are to our students. More and more public schools are now adding art programs, because it's well known that art opens up a students mind to culture and new knowledge. We don't hold back our special education population, and it's extremely important to expose them to as much as possible. They need to see things modeled for them, and then to be able to apply it themselves. Having this machine will empower them. You will make it possible for my students to take charge by cutting out their own dies, and applying it to so many things. They love to make collages as well, and this machine does so many things just by changing the die. Your help makes a world of difference to our students and it's because of the help you send our way that these students excel. We are eternally thankful for that.
