Art wall designed by students to inspire and have the students take pride in their school. 4 year old charter school

Art has so many benefits and at our school it is a source of gaining self esteem and allowing the students a break from book work. The art club fills up completely in less than 48 hours. The students would absolutely love to create a unique tile about their love for our school community and mosaic it to the school wall to create a tile mural. They think of this as "making their mark" as it will stay in the school forever.

I will need a little over 300 bisque ceramic tiles. The students will glaze these using the idea of "what makes our school a community". We want to have them create designs about our clubs, classes, students, sports, teachers, parents, etc. I will put them in the kiln. After, we will use the mosaic tile adhesive to stick the tiles to the outside wall in our breezeway for everyone to see. We will use mosaic tile grout to grout the tiles to the walls. The mosaic grout sealer will be painted on last so it will stay forever on the school's wall- protected from water and dirt damage. The students will learn about how important it is to have a school community and how they should always feel safe when in our school. They will learn about making their mark and by creating a school mural together it shows how much we care about our students now and our students years from now. They will also learn how to glaze tiles and create a mosaic using grout. Afterwords, I will take a picture with all of the students next to it and hang it in the office and send it to the newspaper.

With your help, you will make it possible for my students to create a beautiful mural on our school that will stay there forever. Our school is only 4 years old and we do not have anything unique, creative or student made on the campus. This would be a great learning experience for the students and it would provide the students with high self esteem every time they see their tile on the wall. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated!!!
